Five things you might not know about me…

Comments 19 Standard

After being tagged in this by Helen over on “Social Matters and Natters” I spent the longest time wracking my brains wondering what on earth I could share with you, the stuff you might not know. The problem is I am such an open book that I am not sure what you already know and what you don’t.

So while I work that list out, why don’t you go and check Helen’s blog out, she covers a selection of topics, from Marketing and Brands, to life, to the joys of snail mail. Well worth a follow.

Image result for nick miller aging gifI have always felt like I have an old personality in a young body. I am not sure if it’s my morals and outlooks that seems outdated and old now days. Or it’s based on the old movies I used to watch. But I just feel there is a right and wrong way about things and in modern times they could seem very old.

Image result for my biggest fear gifGoing Blind is one of my biggest fears, I am such a visual person, my love of movies, photography and a nice sunset. When I first needed glasses I was struck with a horrific headache and sore eyes that I realised my worst fear is going blind. (Even gaining Daredevil Powers wouldn’t help compensate)

Image result for hot fuzz red or white gifWhen I am older I would love to own and run a country pub or B&B. I think it’s a real end game job. Somewhere down south, probably Cornwall area – beautiful part of the country down there.

Image result for eurotrip gifDuring my young teen years I was involved in a Cultural Exchange project with a group of Hungarians. I learnt a lot about myself on those trips, met some friends for life and did some unbelievable things. Travelling around the rural countryside of North Hungry also had it’s scary moments.

Image result for fist with your toes gifI don’t like wearing socks and shoes, any opportunity I get I’ll take them off. I much prefer to be barefoot. There is something free and liberating about it. While also feeling like John McClane if I do it in the office.

Well there we go, that is my list. Did you know any of them things? This post was tough, a really struggled to find interesting but unknown facts about me. I hope you liked it.

I want to see Emma, Matt and Siobhan give this a go. Come on down people. Give everyone mentioned in this a follow, they are all amazing and wonderful people.

Thanks!

Read Dead Redemption 2 – The Review

Comments 11 Standard

Saddle up guys and gals, we got ourselves a game review. Yeehawww.

Ok, enough of the cowboy talk, I can’t keep it up for the whole thing.

IMG_20190110_173303

Today I’d like to talk about Red Dead Redemption 2. One of the most anticipated games of the decade. A prequel to the 2010 classic. We were told we can expect a bigger world, more dynamic game play and stunning graphics that will make RDR2 a flagship for gamers everywhere. Well let’s be honest – it was all that and more.

The game is set at the turn of the century in 1899 – some 12 years before the first game, taking on the character of Arthur Morgan, an old dog in a newly emerging world – the age of the Gunslinger is ending and the modern world is taking over. The game is set across several vast fictional states in the old west, from dusty old town’s to a more modern up and coming cities. RDR2 takes you from the snowy mountains, across lush green countryside, through the swamps of the south and into the sand soaked deserts of Cowboys. You play along the story, focusing on protecting your camp, avoiding the law and ultimately striving to surviving the harsh world of the wild west.

Fishing

Introducing several new dynamics to the game, as well as some refined old ones. You have to treat playing this game, as if you were in Arthur’s boots. You need to eat, either by preparing your own, buying from shops or stopping at saloons for a bite to eat. The same thing applies with grooming, your hair naturally grows as time passes. Which gives you options to rock the scruffy look as you try to grow an impressive beard or take a moment to have a shave and brush up on your appearance. Little things like this really add up to the whole experience. There is something satisfying about heading into town, buying a new suit, maybe a new hat. Having a trim, buying some stock from the shop, a new pistol and then heading off to the saloon for a drink and some food. I guess some could argue it’s such a real set of activities that it could replace real life which I would say helps make the game more relatable and playable. If it was the same single combination of tasks you’d get bored. Because it’s so vast the options are somewhat endless.

IMG_20190110_212326

Graphically the game is beautiful, like I am talking HD photo style, I could be there it’s that immersive kind of beautiful – it’s stunning. The way the weather rolls in over the mountains, or the sun burns down over the lakes it makes so much of the game. Which also adds another layer in which clothing is important. Like in reality wearing a heavy fur coat is great in the snow, but in the blistering heat it’s not a good idea and these scenarios effect Arthur, challenging his health cores if it gets too hot, wet or cold. You have to dress appropriately.

Gameplay has upped the controls and introduced some really smart features, one that took twitter by storm is fishing. Now I have never cared for fishing at all. But something about adding it as a feature in this game made me want to try it (in the game that is) and truth be told it’s kind of relaxing, but I think partly that is because of the graphics again. Dead Eye is back and is improved by having your character smoke to replenish the ability. Some people might think this is a bad touch. But I am one of those that even against my better judgement thinks smoking is cool. Especially as a Cowboy ready to duel in the middle of town.

IMG_20190110_210321

Overall I am in love with this game. I can get lost in it, spending hours and hours doing so much, but then not moving the story on at all. I played for like 7 hours the other day and did two-story missions, the rest I was caught up in hunting, challenges and just loving life. Can I recommend this game? Yes! Hands down, 10/10, can’t get enough. Like honestly such a good game. My friend at work has finished it and has said I am so far from the end I don’t have to worry about the end just yet. Which shows how much time you can get out of this one game.

Let me know what you think to it if you have played it, or let me know if this has helped convinced you to buy it. Good luck out there guys, it’s a rough old world.

An Unbreakable Review.

Comments 8 Standard

With the upcoming film release of “Glass” I wanted to write something about the M Night Shyamalan films – focusing on the trilogy we never knew we needed. – Don’t worry, there are no spoilers here.

Image result for unbreakable

When Unbreakable came out in 2000 the world was unknowingly watching the first chapter in a trilogy that took 19 years to put together. 3 years after a 16 year break we saw the second installment come out and now the third is here. From the man who made The Sixth “Friggin” Sense, Unbreakable was just as good if not better (Opinion based, I am team Unbreakable).

I can imagine with the announcement of Glass hitting the big screen sales of Unbreakable shot up – that new generation of film goers that missed it, or who had never even heard of it rushing out to pick up a copy and see what they have missed. Well it’s time to get on it. The first film follows Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson in a strange game of cat and mouse. Playing polar opposites of each other, Willis a man who is somewhat indestructible while Jackson plays a man who is hurt from the slightly gust of wind. Jackson believes that Willis’ character is a superhero having survived a fatal train crash and walking away with not even a scratch. The film follows Willis come to terms with this new findings, testing and trailing his “powers” while also dealing with a troubled home life and Jackson’s character as he becomes more unhinged with the idea of Willis’ power.

The film is amazing, almost like a comic book movie in a real gritty world. Good vs Evil, Right vs Wrong. The twist this film throws at you is shocking and somewhat real as well. Highlighting a deluded mental state of mind and how easy the human mind can be broken, corrupted and tainted.

It’s a masterpiece, a stunning piece of art that can be watched and studied over and over again. Then 2016 rolls around M Night is back at it, bringing out Split. A film somewhat unrelated to Unbreakable as it focuses on Kevin (James McAvoy) a man who suffers from “Dissociative Identity Disorder” with 23 different personalities, each with their own mindset and dark inhibitions, working for the 24th unknown, rumoured personality – The Beast.

Image result for unbreakable

The film holds up and is really enjoyable. It’s like M Night is back to his old ways of making good films – he had a blip in the middle didn’t he but Split bought it back and to top if it there is that final nod to Unbreakable that makes you go “WHATTTTT” – the smallest thing that wasn’t even needed. The film stands alone and works perfectly, but adding this literal seconds to the film changes the whole concept of the movie and makes it bigger than it first thought to be, changing aspects of the original film with the new information from the second instalment. Though in doing so it makes it a sequel, which then lends itself to comparison of the first one. Which in this case can’t compete and becomes another stat in the argument for Second films that aren’t as good as the first.

Well now the third installment is coming out, tickets are booked, going to get the GF to watch Unbreakable this weekend and then we are ready to rock. She was a fan of Split and hopefully will enjoy Unbreakable as well. It’s a worry now days, when you introduce someone to a film that is nearly 20 years old but she, like me is a big Brucie fan and so hopefully she will enjoy it.

I am very interested to see what they do with this film, where they take the story and to see what the characters have been doing in the 16 year gap between Unbreakable and Split. The trailers had me hooked from the off and I also really like Sarah Paulson, so hopefully she will be a good addition to the film. There is a worry it will go too Comic Book Superhero esque and lose the real life thriller aspect that Unbreakable did so well. But we will only know when we see it, also we are left wondering – what could the classic twist be? Hmmm.

The critics reviews are out and a few headlines suggest mixed reviews. But I don’t like to read them or even trust them – the same with Rotten Tomatoes. I feel both make so many bad calls they are not credible sources. Says the amateur in the professional world I know but that being said I will drop a review next week to let you all know my thoughts.

I hope this has helped you prepare for Glass and if you’ve enjoyed this please give it a like and a share, or some form of feedback so I know how I am doing right and where I can improve. Thank you.

Finding your Mojo.

Comments 6 Standard

Like many other bloggers that I know, the New year, New me piece is good – everyone likes a fresh start but Christmas seems to have wiped the Mojo from us. We are lost in a world of writer’s block and no rhythm.

It’s only day 10 of the brand new year and I have put a few posts out but I feel they are lacking in hype, in true content, engagement and fun. I am not sure why – they were posts that I enjoyed writing and covered topics that I love. But still I feel they lacked something.

Even this post might fizzle out and be some lackluster ball on waffle, I mean who knows anymore. It’s not as if I can offer some groundbreaking words of wisdom to help people get out of the similar rut I am in. This is more of just a cry for help. What can I do to shake this feeling? To engage more? And continue this journey to become the very best . . that no one ever was . . . wait that’s the Pokémon theme song. Sorry.

I’m sure I will find my feet again and get back into the swing of things, I am going to focus on a lot of film stuff, reviews and such this year. With a couple of Life posts coming up, updates on the house and what I am up too. Maybe they will churn me back into the Blogging blender and help me out. Help me find that Mojo that have vanished. If anyone can offer some solid advice to help me get my mojo back I would be forever appreciative of you and your words.

Would You Rather Tag.

Comments 2 Standard

The ever so delightful Nicole from “Just a Belfast Girl” tagged me in this “Would You Rather” tag – which for me seems odd to be playing without a beer in my hand. It’s that ever popular drinking game that just turns into a showcase of sex exploits . . . maybe we will keep this one a bit more PG though shall we.

If you do not follow the wee bonnie Belfast gal then this is the perfect chance to do so. You will be regret it. Promise.

Right, now to the tag and the rules.

Below are a set of questions and answers that I have been set. Then below will be another set of questions for you to do. Shall we begin?

  1. Would you rather lose all of your money and valuables or all of the pictures you have ever taken?
Being a photographer I shouldn’t say all the photos I’ve taken, but the amount of items I class as valuables that hold so many memories to me that outweighs the choice. While also being picky, am I able to say I would still have photos taken by other people.
  2. Would you rather be able to see 10 minutes into your own future or 10 minutes into the future of anyone but yourself?10 Minutes of my own future. I feel that the short period of time probably wont be beneficial to help others. But it would help me in making some choices.
  3. Would you rather be famous when you are alive and forgotten when you die or unknown when you are alive but famous after you die?I would rather be unknown while alive and the be famous when I die. I want them to tell tales of me in hundreds of years.
  4. Would you rather go to jail for 4 years for something you didn’t do or get away with something horrible you did but always live in fear of being caught?I would rather live in fear of being caught then spending my life having people think I have done something horrendous.
  5. Would you rather your shirts be always two sizes too big or one size too smallI’d have to opt for the two sizes to big then small. Think of the comfort.
  6. Would you rather live in the wilderness far from civilization or live on the streets of a city as a homeless person? The Wilderness gets my vote, but I’d opt to move to Cornwall or somewhere by the sea – Beautiful part of the country. Sadly I have seen how people treat the homeless in the city and I would not want to face that.
  7. Would you rather the general public think you are a horrible person but your family be very proud of you or your family think you are a horrible person but the general public be very proud of you?As long as my family are proud of me, I couldn’t give two hoots what the public think. I am always the bad guy. Let is be.
  8. Would you rather live your entire life in a virtual reality where all your wishes are granted or in the real world?I love the idea of Virtual Reality and knowing how the real world is today and what could be. I think Virtual Reality would be the option I’d pick. Imagine a world like “Ready Player One”.
  9. Would you rather be alone for the rest of your life or always be surrounded by annoying people? As much as I am a very social person, I can not stand annoying or ignorant people and for that I would much rather live alone then have to suffer the annoyance.
  10. Would you rather never use social media sites/apps again or never watch another movie or TV show?
Social Media Apps – I am sorry guys, but as much as I love the technology, the people and the modern social media world. I would give it up for the movies. Plus those ignorant people I mentioned above rule some social media platforms and they ruin it for everyone.

Wow I think some of those answers got a little real didn’t they. I am a good person. But yeah this is where we are at, I hope this hasn’t changed your opinion of me – if so, who cares. You ready for some questions of your own.

  1. Would you rather be deaf or blind?
  2. Would you rather have fingers for toes or toes for fingers?
  3. Would you rather be able to hear people’s thoughts but have to speak them out loud. Or have no filter and speak every single word that comes to your mind?
  4. Would you rather have no cheese at Christmas or no chocolate on Easter?
  5. Would you rather lose the ability to lie or believe everything you’re told?
  6. Would you rather Win £50,000 or let your best friend win £1 million?
  7. Would you rather know how you will die or when you will die?
  8. Would you rather Look 10 years older from the neck up, or the neck down?
  9. If you were reborn in a new life, would you rather be alive in the past or future?
  10. Would you rather Be the funniest person in the room or the most intelligent?

The Christmas Tag – Mk2

Leave a comment Standard

Just when you think Blogmas is over, it’s time to put your feet up and enjoy the season. You get called back and tagged up for another post. So here I am. Abbie the delightfully amazing and supportive girly tagged me in this festive Christmas Tag – if you want to see her’s it is just HERE.

It’s been a crazy festive season, films, food and a hangover of all hangovers from the Christmas Party. But we live and learn.

What is your favourite Christmas candle?

I can never remember what it’s called – but it smells of Christmas. My Nan used to always get one and it was delightful.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Fairytale of New York. – An absolute tune that works at the Christmas party when we are all drunkenly bellowing it out.

Do you stay in pyjamas all day or dress up on Christmas Day?

Bit of both, all morning is PJ zone and then freshen up and get all fancy and festive for the rest of the day.

What are your plans for the holidays this year?

Christmas Eve is still to be confirmed. Christmas day at the GF’s families – there is three under 5 so the magic of Christmas is still so real, which I love. Panto on Boxing day and then my family are visiting on the Saturday.

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Die Hard. I love so many Christmas films, but Die Hard is my all time favourite.

giphy-4

Do you love or loathe tacky Christmas sweaters?

LOVE! L.L.L.LURVVEEEE Christmas Jumpers, the cheesier the better.

Who will you be kissing underneath the mistletoe this year?

The season of goodwill, so whoever wants a kiss. Probably the GF at some point too.

What are you excited for in the build up to Christmas?

The films and music. There are certain things you can’t watch or listen to in the Summer. For me I love trying to cram as many Christmas films into this one month as possible.

What is your favourite Christmas tradition?

Tough call, the clothing, the films, the food. The whole magic of Christmas really.

What is the number one item on your Christmas wish list this year?

An NFL Houston Texans Jersey. Just so pricey.

What is your favourite Christmas food?

Cheese board and Pigs in Blankets

Do you shop the Boxing Day sales?

I don’t really. I am not a fan on the crowds and rude people who just barge.

Do you prefer to give or receive presents?

Give, I am such a giver! But it’s always nice to receive something.

What is your favourite sweet treat for the holidays?

Festive Friends – damn tasty.

Do you have a favourite Christmas drink?

I’m not sure. Maybe a festive Hot Chocolate of some kind.

Which Advent Calendar do you have this year? Do you remember to open it each day?

This year I have a Celebrations one. Which is good – minus the Snickers. Nobody wants that. But I usually forget to open them every day which is fine because it means I can binge one day.

What is your favourite holiday scent?

Tinsel – it is the smell of Christmas!

Are you one of those people who wish for a White Christmas each year?

Yes! 100% – I love snow and how much more magical would Christmas be if it was a white one.

What makes the holidays most special to you?

The merriment, the good will to others. The cheer. Everyone’s a little bit happier.

What has been your highlight of 2018?

Has to be buying a house. Finally a grown up on the property ladder.
