Last night we saw the midnight showing of Avengers Endgame. It was a crazy experience where we all cheered when the certificate flashed up. The whole room shared this one magic moment and all sat in awe as we witnessed the culmination of 10 years of genius movie history unfold.

Obviously I will be giving very little away. No spoilers here. Which might mean the post is short. But I’ll try my best to tease and tempt you into wanting to see it even more.

It’s an overall giant film. I’m still letting it sink in but the whole film is just massive and in fairness it had to be to match and smash Infinity War and round off this saga. It had everything you’d want and more. Highs, Lows, Comedy, Stunning Action Shots and just the overall jaw dropping awesomeness that comes hand in hand with an Avengers Movie.

It just begins, this is the fact of the matter, this is what we need to do, this is us doing it. It flows so well and answers all those unanswered questions that are stuck in your mind. An amazing effort as well goes to keeping the cast secret, I mean EVERYONE is in this somewhere, somehow. It’s so poetic and bitter sweet. Leaving you happy with the ending of our Heroes story, but also greedily and selfishly angry that this IS the End. Because let’s be honest we could watch these forever. But like a good book, fine wine or tasty box of doughnuts; everything must come to an end. It’s been an awesome ride but we all knew this day would come. The last doughnut is gone and the wine bottle is in the recycling and The Avengers (as we know them) is concluded.

The only way I have been able to describe it to people asking today is by two words; “Unexpected” & “Huge” – I’m still trying to process and let it all settle in. But I can promise you this. You’ll laugh, You’ll tap your foot, You’ll be on the edge of of seat feeling every punch, You’ll cry and You’ll breathe a sigh of relief.

Do with that what you will.

So all that is left to do is: Book a ticket and Buckle in. This is the end of an era – this saga is nicely put to bed. This team, these films and this story will always be OUR Avengers – regardless of what the next ten years bring.

And for that, we thank you MCU.

March Round-Up

Comments 4 Standard

Well that is March over and done with – a quarter of 2019 has gone and what have we done? It’s scary how within a couple of blinks we are in April. Like at the time the week drags, the weather is shite and the moods are low. But before we know it we are buying Easter Eggs and getting ready for some Bank Holidays.

BathroomSo what have I been up to? Well firstly that bathroom I mentioned in the last roundup is done – plastered, painted, looking fresh. I did spend a whole weekend painting the walls and ceilings and that was pretty tough because the night before I had done Arms at the gym and by the end of the painting they were on fire.

Which rolls into my mention of Soph (who can be found over one Twitter and Instagram. She was looking for volunteers for her Fitness Challenge so I jumped at the chance to have a real work out routine and to help her out as she becomes the next PT Super Star. So I am a week in and this is my progress photos – not sure if you see a difference, but I can feel one, I’m really enjoying it and wish Soph all the best in all she does. My GF seems to notice a difference in my shoulders and arms and I bought a new jacket the other day and had to go down a size because my size was to baggy – so maybe it’s all coming up Milhouse.

I was also invited back to the Theatre to review another play in a few weeks, which I am very grateful for the opportunity. I’ve also been complimented a lot this month from various people in and out of the blogging world for my support, writing style and general happy go-lucky outlook. Which is nice right. Though I felt mid March was a bit of a downer in regards to my life and my plan for the next steps. But hopefully a few irons that I have in the fires will spark up an opportunity soon enough. Stay tuned for that update.

March’s movie viewing consisted of Captain Marvel, US and Shazam. My review for Captain Marvel can be found here. Spoilers – I loved it. (Don’t worry the review is Spoiler free) US was as creepy and well made as you’d think it would be. In my eyes wasn’t as good or impacting as Get Out was but still worth a watch. But as for Shazam – the little I say the better in my opinion. It was a Shazambles!

Blog stats are on the up as well. I am now 3 for 3 on beating last years stats which is a given I guess as I grow and gain a bigger audience. But it’s still good to see it’s all going in the right direction. Now it’s time to tackle April – I have a busy month coming up so I bet the next round up will be stacked.

As always take care and all my love! Mwah!

‘Captain Marvel’ Review: A Kick Ass Thrill Ride.

What with the heat, beef and grief Brie Larson and the Captain Marvel movie has been receiving over the past few weeks I felt it time to weigh in on what I thought of the movie.

Last night I settled into my cinema seat, popcorn in hand and my mind ready to be blown away by; the ever so talented Brie Larson, any potential Avengers Endgame clues and the MCU phenomena as a whole and let me say – move over Steve, there is a new Captain in town.

Firstly let me start by saying this IS a spoiler free review, there is a special place on Titan for people who spoil movies or even talk in the cinema. We will not be going there guys. So carry on reading, all is safe. Now I am aware of the constant battering Brie Larson . . . Sorry – Academy Award Winner Brie Larson, has had over the making of this film, the press junket and the promotional tour and in her defence I feel a lot of it is simply out-of-order. There is so much hate generated now days that it really tarnishes a great actor and their career. Things that they say are so easily spun into something else so they can be painted in a bad light. Which is unfair.

But this post is about the film itself, so what did I think of it?

I went in expecting good things, but nothing like what I saw. This was a breathtaking thrill ride that ticked every box in my eyes. Great story, Amazing fight sequences, Cool 90’s pop culture references and on feisty ginger cat called Goose.

The film gives you the origin of Captain Marvel but not in the standard way we have seen countless times before, oh no this was done in a cool quirky way which helped the tempo of the movie soar as fearlessly as Captain Marvel herself. I went in thinking I had a rough idea of what the story would be, how it would pan out and what would come from it. I was mistaken, there was several twists that I didn’t see coming, a couple of nods to the bigger picture and a post credit scene to make you scream. In my eyes the story doesn’t let up, there wasn’t a single point in the film that I found myself clock watching or bored. Which sadly I have found once or twice in a few of the other MCU films (I won’t name which ones). It fits perfectly into the MCU and just gets your blood pumping and ready for the Endgame.

Brie Larson took the bull by the horns and smashed it out of the park with this one. A well deserved role that will continue what ‘Room’ started by blasting her into acting royalty. Her level of humour, sass and emotion comes through in every scene – slipping right into the MCU like she had been there all alone. She will most certainly hold her own with the big boys when the Avengers Endgame comes out don’t you worry about that. Also having Nick Fury and Coulson back was brilliant – they play the younger, more innocent versions of themselves so well and the technology Hollywood has developed did a stupidly good job. It was like watching Sam Jackson in A Long Kiss Goodnight rather than a Marvel film from 2019.

Admittedly I was left with one burning question that hopefully I will discover the answer too one day. If you want to know what it is and you’ve seen the film. Send me a message and ask me.

This was also the perfect film for International Women’s Day – the moral of this story, the development of characters and the message it is sending is perfect. A story of a woman constantly being told; she is not good enough, not allowed to do something, or never will amount to anything without proving herself to men. But like the Strong Independent Women that you all are, she learns that she doesn’t need to do that. She don’t need no man to be great! She nails it all on her own.

The responses and comments I have seen from women across Twitter who have left the cinema feeling empowered and strong is simply amazing. This film can and will help shape a new generation of women, while reminding the current one that they are their best self.

Overall I loved this movie, everything about it was perfect – from the soundtrack, to the cool quips, to the overall message of empowerment. Not forgetting a sweet “For Stan” montage and message at the start and even a smart cameo in the middle. I can not urge you enough to go and watch this film. You will not regret it. I now – even more than ever – can not wait for Endgame to get here, just so I get another chance to see Captain Marvel in action again.

Bring it Thanos!
