I was tagged in this post by AToughTimeToBeHonest and I for one am grateful for the tag – I love these posts and I think they are amazing ways to learn something about everyone.

And literally a day after being tagged in this, Lana and Ryan from The Cole Camp Fire tagged me too so now I am thanking them and answering more questions set upon me.

Both blogs are amazing and ran by supportive people who has so much passion that they are a credit to the blogging community and their work – go follow, support and share.

The Award strikes again and I was also tagged in LizzumsLivesLife which if you don’t follow you should, she is amazing!

I wont lie I just copied this line from the tagged post because I wouldn’t know where to find the creator – But here we go the creator of the Mystery Blogger Award is Okoto Enigma check out her lifestyle and travel blog here.

Now a chance to shine – three things you might not know about me.

IM

  1. When I was younger, say 7 or 8 I got lost in Matalan, I was too busy running around and darting through the racks that I lost my family. On reflection it was very Blair
Witch. Just manically running in circles.
  2. I am a sucker for fancy dress – I LOVE IT. I don’t go half hearted. It’s all or nothing. Over time I have donned many faces (maybe I should right a post about it) but this is by far one of my favourite costumes.
  3.  And the final thing about me – as much as I find the wildlife and scenery beautiful, I am scared of the Ocean, the depths and what lurks down there. I would much prefer to be stuck in Space than at the bottom of the Ocean. Have you seen some of the critters that live down there?

Now looking at the rules I think there is something missing, or I have made a mistake. But it’s time to continue. . . or make it up as I go along. Going forward I want people to do the three facts and then answer the set questions.

The Questions

From AToughTimeToBeHonest

  1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years. – Family Man. Married with a Child in a nice house with a dog – I can’t wait for the dog!
  2. Favourite drink, alcoholic or not? – Can’t beat a lovely Cuppa Tea or a Gin 😉
  3. Should Pluto be recognised as a planet? – Probably not, he’s a dog! Real answer, Yes I do. My GF’s sister was learning the planets the other week and it occurred to me they have it easier now as when I was learning their was one more. Bring it back!
  4. Android or Apple? – Android for Phone, Apple for Computer.
  5. Post the funniest photo you can of yourself which reminds you of a time you had fun. – Get a load of this! (Pete, Me, Mole & Tom) This was taken at Mole’s Stag do that his now Step Son and my best friend Tom organised. It was such a messy night but so many good memories.263472_195546863830830_3545073_n

The Questions

From The Cole Camp Fire

  1. Do you have pets? Tell me about your pets. – We have a cat at our house which is my GF’s sister but when she moved out she couldn’t take the cat. I am not a fan of the cat! The Cat is the bane of my home life. I can’t wait to move into a house and get a dog. I don’t like Cat’s think they are superior and think they deserve everything – where a dog is loyal and respectful.
  2. If you’re the star of a reality show, what would it be about? – I would say it would be about my life – maybe a video form of my blog. Showcasing me growing up dealing with adult life, planning the next steps and becoming a success.
  3. What is the book you are currently reading? – I am not a big reader, which I will admit I don’t like and wish I could read more. Currently I am reading David Jason’s Only Fools and Stories.
  4. Share with me something we don’t know about you? – Oh golly I am constantly being asked this now days I don’t know what you do and don’t know. Ok I once broke my arm playing basketball, clean snap and had to don a sexy orange cast while it healed.
  5. Michael Jordan or Lebron James? – Being a brit I am not big on Basketball and so would have to pick Michael Jordan on his merit for the Space Jam Movie.

The Questions

From LizzumsLivesLife

  1. Have you ever broken a bone? – Yes, my arm while playing Basketball in High School
  2. When was the last time you went on a stay-cation/overnight trip? – Well I just got back off a real holiday so . . . but last overnight trip was probably visiting my dad a few weeks back – or if that doesn’t count. We went to London last year for a show and weekend away which was cute.
  3. What did you want to grow up to become when you were a child? – A had several jobs on the list when I was young; An Artist, Chef, Fireman.
  4. What is your current music obsession? – George Ezra is my jam at the moment, I am loving his new album and in particular ‘Paradise’
  5. Do you generally prefer the book or it’s movie adaption? – As a film geek I much prefer the films, but then I will go back and read the book. The occasions I have thought. Book wins in recent years is Jo Nesbo’s – The Snowman. I couldn’t put the book down and then the film came out I was so excited . . . only to be let down but a pile of steamy rubbish.

A New Blogging Series – The Gadget Guide!

Leave a comment Standard

Gadgets

This is a little introductory post about a new series I am putting together called “The Gadget Guide”.

Where I’ll take recommendations, or find some quirky gadgets that I can review and make a guide about. Tackling manly gifts that can work as gift guides and ideas for boyfriends, sons and dad gifts. But also I’m also looking at house hold gadgets – Like that frying pan that cooks every part of a Full English in one go. How cool is that!

Rest assure though boys, I will take the plunge and review things that can be aimed to the opposite sex, so you can have a helping hand when searching for gifts for your lady friends, Mothers, Sisters and Lovers

Basically I will be taking on everything and anything,

The end goal is to treat myself to a Google Home device to review and sing its praises – because let’s be honest that little thing is awesome and I CAN’T WAIT to get one.

Partly the reason for this series is. . . because I am a guy and I love a good gadget. But also because I can sense you all need my help when it comes to gift giving which is something I nail. Christmas, pfft easy. Birthdays KA-POW. Baby Showers – done and done. So now it’s time to share my knowledge with you all.

So that’s me – short and sweet just to keep you in the loop. But know I need to work out what the first review is going to be. I have had a little look on Amazon to see what I could work with. Any suggestions or if there is something you want to see reviewed by a somewhat trusting, charming and funny guy (that’s me) let me know. I love a challenge and let’s be honest this is going to be a hoot.

Peace and Love my beautiful followers.

P.S The above image “Gadgets” is not my art work. I am grateful for it’s design.

2. If you could pick up and master any skill in just one day, what skill would it be? (Playing an instrument, speaking a language? Etc) Oh this one is easy – Parkour / Free Running. I would love to be able to do some Assassins Creed, James Bond style moves.
3. What is the best place you have visited as a tourist and why? Houston Texas – I went about 18 months ago to visit family out there and it was such an amazing trip. One of the first times I had travelled fully alone too – even though that didn’t bother me it made the trip more exciting.
IMG_20180315_153049_455.jpg
4. What are your three favourite films?
Are you kidding me . . . ermm . . . Die Hard, Pulp Fiction & The Avengers – that is a hard question for me.
5. List 3 fun things you would like to do before you die. I actually currently have a list of 30 before 30 – but if I don’t finish them they will end up on the bucket list. I would like to see the Northern Lights, Learn to play golf and start my own company.
6. If you could go back in time to any point in history, and stay there for 24 hours, just observing, where would you go and why? 1920’s New York City – the era of Gangsters, Speakeasy and Booze Running. I’d love to experience and see that world.

8. What is your most prized material possession? Screen Shot 2018-03-15 at 17.07.02A little leprechaun egg cup (that I don’t use as an egg cup but more an ornament) – it was my Nan’s and it’s something so little but it means so much to me.
9. What are your main goals (not blog related) for 2018? Buying a House is a big one, though unsure how realistic that is now. Tick a couple more things of my 30 before 30 list and get fit.
10. Who is the most famous person you have met face to face? Briefly describe the encounter. Jason Donovan – Briefly describe isn’t a pun I swear. But I was in my boxers – a few of us were getting changed and he walked in. (Swear Down)
11. What is your favourite alcoholic beverage? Depending on my mood or occasion – I love a nice GnT but saying that an ice-cold beer is always a winner after a long day.

Look who’s back! I have been tagged again – this time by Nathan over at DadsTechHub and on Twitter at: HERE
You should check out that blog, it’s brilliant and inspirational stuff. But now for what you came to see – the Questions.
Mk2.
  1. Why did you start blogging? I started blogging because I wanted to start a Parenting Dad Blog in the future, but then decided to start a lifestyle adulthood blog to build a platform ready for when it becomes a Parenting Blog.
  2. What is the best blogging tip you would give new to blogging? Be yourself, Wow that sounded cliched but it’s true, don’t mould yourself or say / do things you think people want to see. Do or write about what you want. Be yourself. People will respect it more – don’t worry about being too close to the edge or controversial.
  3. If you could which element of blogging would you dedicate more time to? I would have to say time management – which is a kicker, I would dedicate more time to time. I just struggling to keep things consistent and regular.
  4. What is the most random fact you know? Not sure if this is a random fact or a random fact about me – so have both. Random: You are more likely to get hurt on the way to an Airport than on the flight itself. About Me: I am allergic to Oranges.

  6. What was the first Cassette tape/CD/MP3 that you ever purchased? Wow god knows! Erm The Grease Soundtrack on CD

  10. If you could only have 1 piece of technology, what would it be? Real or Not? Because an Iron Man Suit is a must have right? If it’s a bit more realistic I would say a Google Home and all the kit to have a fully automatic house.
  11. Haribo or Jelly Babies? – Haribo hands down, as much as I like Jelly Babies, after one or two they get a bit sickly for me.

Getting Older and Dealing with Taste.

Comments 2 Standard

This post isn’t about taste as in style and decor – I mean come on, I have exceptional taste . . . much to my to GF’s disagreement. But this is more about taste buds and food. Exploring how we change as we get older.

Onion for Fajitas

This topic spurred from a conversation we had a work the other day, where I explained how the Salad Bar at Harvester isn’t as good as the Salad Bar at Pizza Hut – I mean what a boring adult conversation, I didn’t think I would ever get to a point in my life where I would be comparing Salad Bars but I am. I went on to explain how my dislike for Harvesters SB came from the anarchy I always witness when I am there, seeing the onions breaking loose in the pepper tray, the sauce trail contaminating everything in it’s path or the amount of watery residue that gathers in every other bowl.

Now I know this is more than likely down to the customers, we are inherently lazy and careless when it comes to spooning pasta into our bowls, because if a mess is made – it’s not our house, it’s not our place to clean up always bubbles to the surface and the state of the SB that I hate is made.

Not saying I am a saint, I’ve been known to leave my tray on a table in McDonald’s instead of putting it in the bin because and I quote: “They have Front of House floor staff to clean the tables” – plus I like to think if they come and clear my tray (which I will leave neatly packed and ready to go) they will clean and wipe down the table. If I do the tray myself what is to say they wont clean the table.

Silly I know and you are probably thinking – What a tool. But I like to think there is logic in there somewhere.

Anyway back to the point in hand. I have noticed that as I get older my food tastes and appetite has changed. But it’s the little changes that you think wouldn’t make a difference until they do. Spice being the biggest one – back in my youth I used to be able to handle the heat as it were. A spicy curry – bring it on, jalapeno poppers – easy, ASDA fresh based “American Sizzler” pizza – we’ll have two of them – and my god they had some kick to them bad boys.

But now-a-days I just can’t do it, it’s not so much the taste I can’t handle – it’s more of the aftermath, the moment I begin to turn a lovely shade of rouge and a battle is on between my forehead and nose on who can produce the most moisture. I am not about that life anymore, about putting myself through that kind of pain and humiliation – and for what? I am not a fan of the bathroom antics the next day either, but the less about that the better.

I do miss that tasty American Sizzler pizza though, it reminds me of being at college, heading to my friend’s house after class and watching a tonne of films or playing play station while indulging in some tasty pizza. (This picture is from that time, forgive the filters, a younger me was new to Instagram and excited to test it all out)

Screen Shot 2018-02-11 at 20.18.30

So I guess what I have learnt in this baffling game of life and growing up is that taste buds changes and maturity takes over. But that is a good thing, it means something you might not have liked 10 years ago now tastes amazing – or that drink you couldn’t stand back in the day, well now it isn’t half bad. It just means keep trying new and old things. One day you might be surprised.

It’s been a pleasure as always guys and I would love to know what you used to love but can’t stand now days.

Ciao Bello!

My Name, Your Name, Who’s Name?

Comments 9 Standard

Untitled design (2)

In the modern world we live in getting married or taking other people’s names is becoming more complex and different.

Traditionally it would have been the wife who takes the husband’s surname as they join into his family. But as time has moved forward there are more cases now days where either; No name change is taken, the wife’s name is taken, a double barrel name appears, a hybrid of both names comes out or the even newer approach happens – a whole new name is produced.

The reason this post came about is that a few of us got chatting about it at work. Who would take whose name. It’s also a conversation me and the GF have quite a lot. So I just wanted to know what everyone thought about this subject – I took it to twitter and got some very interesting points back.

hayleighseanwedding-236.jpg

Overall everyone said as long as the marriage works than it doesn’t matter what the surname is. Which lead into the topic of regardless of surname it’s the children involved that matter most.

Which made me think about the flip side of this topic. When families break down and it becomes a mixing pot of surnames all under one banner – as long as everyone involved is happy and wanting to be there it shouldn’t matter what you are called.

But more about taking which name, I think in this modern age that the traditional sense of taking the Husbands name because he was the patriarch and the head of the family is long gone. What with equal rights and even the legalisation of homosexual marriages coming into an effect the rules of the game has changed.

I know people who got married but still have their original family names because they are both lawyers and I understand that. They have made a name for themselves as this person and to take another name could lose worth in their career as their identity has changed.

Sadly though I have seen equality turn people into stubborn unreasonable people, I know a person who flat-out hands down will not consider or entertain the fact of changing their name. Which as much as I believe if you don’t want to that is ok, I think you have to be open enough to have a conversation about it, rather than stubbornly not respecting the partner enough to even have a conversation.

I took my husband’s name. I don’t know, personally my own surname wasn’t that important to me. It’s a name lol. I wanted to have to same name as my husband, it feels like a symbol of unity I guess. – @SimplyySplendid (Twitter)

Personally I wouldn’t want to take my GF’s surname. Not because I am not open to the option. But because I think mine is better. Which sounds arrogant I know. But this is also why I like the idea of merging names or even creating a whole new name all together. To make something more personal and fair – but on the flip side of that I also think I should keep my name as I am the last and only Male in my family and if I want that name to continue I need to be the one to carry it on.

Personally I’d take my future husbands surname bc I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to it, but I don’t think it really matters. – @AllLadyA (Twitter)

It was pointed out to me that something else to be taken into consideration is all the paperwork you will have to change and update – Passport, Driving Licence, Bills, Work Profile. It’s a costly and time-consuming task regardless of which name you end up with and that I can see as a reason not to change the name.

It wouldn’t be impossible to get a hyphenated name now, but it’s a bit of a chore changing it with everything. And also now I’ve since had a child, I wouldn’t like not having the same name as him… – @Jakijellz (Twitter)

Overall there is not a right or wrong answer to this situation we will ultimately put ourselves into and from the feedback and responses I have received about this topic the answers are different but overall the main thing that shines through is people’s love for their family and children – it doesn’t matter who has what name, it’s the idea of the happy family that wins.

I also want to thank everyone for the feedback and responses I received while writing this.

Once again you guys are awesome and as for me – I think it’s something me and GF will have to discuss nearer the time . . . which isn’t anytime soon (just so we are all clear)

Peace!

The Sunshine Blogger Award

Comments 11 Standard

Good Morning World, it’s a bright new sunny day.

I love being nominated for these Awards, they are a great way to meet and learn about new people and bloggers in the world.

Thank you Anniens for tagging me. People check out her blog just HERE, she is fun and a very talented blogger.

RqtEs1516087987Here we go:

1. What was your last dream? I dreamt the other day that a group of us were cleaning in an old rundown house, searching through the trinkets and piles of stuff, when two old ladies from the house next door warned us of the previous owner. Then the rest of the dream was spent noticing this figure lurking in different corners of the place – turned creepy right. Oh and the taps in the sink didn’t work.

2. Who’s your inspiration? Of recent I would have to say Maud, Hayley and Bexa

3. What was the first blog you ever read? (if you remember) I am not sure, in my newest blog attempt I would have to say it was probably Saph – she is such an inspiration and deserves all the praise she gets.

4. If you remember, then about what was your first blog post? My first ever blog was a film review blog that unbeknown to me, got disabled due to lack of use. Good times.

5. Is there something you were afraid of, but aren’t anymore? Commitment – being tied to one location through work, relationships or family. The only Direct Debit I would have tied to my bank was a phone bill. I just liked the idea of being able to get up and go at any point without having to cut ties.

6. If you could live anywhere in the world, where it would be? I’d live in New York City – such an amazing city!

7. What was the last movie you watched? This Is England – such a harrowing movie covering topics that are still as apparent today as they were back then.

8. Winter or summer and why? (This answer changes every few months) Summer, for the long days, the road trips with the music up and window down and the happiness the sun brings.

9. If you could change one thing in the world what it would be and why?” I should probably use this question to answer with a world benefiting solution. Solve World Hunger, Cure Disease or Remove Trump from Office. But I have to be honest and selfish this time – If I could change one thing in this world it would be my financial status, it’s a constant source of worry and grief for me and if that changed not only my personal and professional life would be different but I also feel my mental health would be a bit more solid as a result.
10.If you could start your blogging journey all over again what would you do differently? I would dedicate more time to it, something I am trying to learn to do now. But time and focus is the main thing to get this off the ground – I am getting there slowly.

11.What’s your favourite song for the moment? I’ve gone through a bit of an Irish Folk section in music of resent and my favourite song is: Whiskey in the Jar by the Dubliners. Which can be found just HERE.

My Questions For You:

  1. You wake up on a desert island – what three things would you take with you?
  2. Who would you have play you in a movie?
  3. What was the last Text you sent? (Full text, out of context and unedited)
  4. You know the world is about to end tonight, how would you spend your final day?
  5. What is your biggest fear?
  6. What makes you overwhelmed with happiness?
  7. You are tasked with saving the world, your partner is a character from the last thing you watched – who is helping you and will it be successful?
  8. In the recent light of hate towards FRIENDS – what are your feelings on the show?
  9. What would your dream car be?
  10. Where do you see yourself by Christmas?
  11. Why is there 11 questions?

And the nominations are:

Thank you all for reading, you are just one big bunch of beautiful people.
