Fancy Fancy Dress

Comments 8 Standard

I have decided to throw a bit of a fun post out.

Just to keep you smiling as this week drags on. I feel you need a Humph and some motivation to get to the weekend and hopefully this will draw a little smile out and for a moment be a saving grace.

. . . sometimes I truly just waffle on don’t I.

Let’s talk about Fancy Dress.

Honestly I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for a chance to dress up and I don’t hold back. If I’m doing it – I am doing it right. Maybe I should do it professionally or help other people – which I can do, took the challenge to help my friend get a full costume within a couple of hours of a party for as cheap as possible. Nailed it!

10156173092895582.jpg

My all time favourite costume that I have done is the above. The Invisible Man. It was hot and warm but paid off when I would walk past people and they would gasp in awe and praise me for an amazing effort. This was Halloween 2015 – a night in town. Wearing a dressing gown, who was really loving life. Thankfully I didn’t get ID’ed anywhere. That would have been fun.

Other dress ups include; The Nun from the Conjuring for Halloween ’16, a wasteland raider for Halloween ’17, The Swedish Chef for Eurovision ’17, A Gun toting Spaniard for Eurovision ’16 and a Leprechaun for Eurovision ’15 (but if you remember rightly – Ireland didn’t make it to the final, so I had to tweak the full leprechaun costume that I had put together, adding a prisoners hat and shackles I adopted the guise of an Irish immigrant prisoner that had been sent to Australia. Not bad hey)

I’ve also done Doc Brown for a charity office event. There is an OAP snap in the middle somewhere from a night at Uni, the same with the Smurf and a Zombie Geek (posing passed out on the loo, but not actually passed out) and also The Hulk which took a lot of time and planning. Body paint isn’t a quick job – but boy it sure was fun.

I would love to know what you have dressed up as, send me your best. Also let me know what you think to my efforts. Let’s be honest you are so inviting me to your next fancy dress party aren’t you.

Much love!

SUNSHINE BLOGGER AWARD

Comments 5 Standard

So today feels like a day of awards. I had not long posted The Neat Blogger Award found HERE. When the ever so delightful Abbie tagged me in this.

Now I am not one to let my loyal lovely followers and fans down. So here we are again. Typing up another award (I love it, these are the best). You might have noticed the timeline doesn’t match up. That award was on Tuesday and it is now . . . not Tuesday (unconfirmed what day I will be posting). That is because I didn’t want to Saturate the market as it were. Keeping you all guessing, wanting more.

Shall we begin.

It was a lousy afternoon at work, the skies were grey and the air warm and humid. Suddenly a notification flew into my Twitter box. I had been mentioned in a Tweet by @WhatAbbieSays – Thank you for that lovely! Here is here Award if you want to find out more about here. Hit HERE now!

If you do not follow her then we need words, sit down, gather round and let me tell you about our heroine Abbie. Who can be found over on “What Abbie Says” she is such an; awesome, sassy, caring, amazing, lovely girl who supports everyone, doesn’t sugar coat it and then enjoys a cheeky Gin and Tonic when the day is done. I can’t remember how we met, but it can’t have been too long ago as I’ve only been here less than a year. But it feels like I have known her for years. I am going to move on now in worry that this starts to shape up into a soppy love letter or estranged fan mail letter.

The Rules!

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog;
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you;
  • Nominate 11 bloggers to receive this award and ask them 11 new questions; and
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog site.

The Questions

Why did you start your blog?

This started with the idea of being a Parenting Blog, from the fathers point of view – as I feel the ratio of Mothers to Fathers blogs is in favour of the ladies. But as I have no actual child or the idea of having one yet, I decided to set up a blog about Adulthood and me growing up becoming old and dealing with crap. Then by the time the children come along this blog with be up and running.

Pineapple on a pizza? Yay or nay?

Ooh controversial question – probably not going to like my answer. But damn son I love the Pineapple, on pizza, on chicken burgers, on gammon. It’s sweet, sour, juicy – what is not to love. Keep the pineapple going strong.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning medal for?

This will sound soppy as SIN but I have always been told it, for like years, I give THE best hugs. Bring it on I would take home the gold.

What would you have for your dream three course dinner?

Now this might change but right now; Halloumi Fries with Chilli Jam, a beast of a Sirloin Steak (Rare) and to finish, a plain and simply tasty Vanilla Cheesecake. Not too shabby hey.

If you had unlimited funds to build a house that you would live in for the rest of your life, what would the finished house be like?

Now I am not greedy, I don’t need mansions or helipads. But you know the America Family Homes you see in films, where the Mom and Pop have the kids and grand kids over for Christmas dinner. The large open plan kitchen, dinning room, maybe two living rooms. Upstairs maybe four double bedrooms, a study, walk in wardrobes. The large bathroom with two sinks as the master bathroom. Double garage, large garden, decking area with outdoor furniture and a big BBQ grill.

Maybe it is sounding borderline mansion like, but I just want to be able to always host and have people stay. Y’all can come visit!

Are you usually early or late?

Early. It’s a big pet peeve being late. Sadly my GF has terrible time management and it drives me up the wall.

What would be your ideal way to spend the weekend?

Friday Night. Takeaway Pizza – Couple of Movies.

Saturday. Lounge, maybe a spot of shopping (in my favour though, none of this being dragged round Primark and Next for hours upon end, no sir), some Playstation. Then to a bar for a few drinks with some friends.

Sunday. A lay in, bacon and egg sandwich, then chilling with some binge TV or films. Just some chilled time.

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?

Make a list of 30 Before 30. It’s eye-opening, challenge yourself.

How different was your life one year ago?

The blog, less than a year old. It’s been a whirlwind and I love it. It has given me a place to express myself and meet some awesome people.

What is something that your friends would consider “so you”?

Hmm; I’d love to say my charm or comical genius. But it would probably be my film knowledge and intelligence – wow that sounded arrogant. But yeah film knowledge and actors is off the chain – Ross would know this, or Ross could tell you that.

I hope that’s the right answer, now I think about it is that “So Me”

If someone narrated your life, who would you want to be the narrator?

I would have to go with someone like Michael Caine or James Earl Jones – though I don’t think my life is exciting for his booming voice. Maybe Brian Blessed.

My Questions For You.

  • If you could see any Band or Musician that has sadly passed away who would you see?
  • What are your thoughts on Avocados?
  • What is your biggest pet peeve?
  • Would you rather have no hands or no feet?
  • We are going to form a band, what position would take?
  • What is the most influential quote you have in memory?
  • Which is scarier, Space or the Depths of the Ocean, and why?
  • What are your thoughts on the scandalous “Reality” TV shows, such as MADE IN blah blah or Real Housewives of who knows-where?
  • Morecambe and Wise or Two Ronnie’s?
  • If you could hang out with any Kids TV Character from your childhood who would it be?
  • What Animal would you be most excited to see at the Zoo?

Nominations.

This is the bit I dislike because it takes ages for me to decide who to tag (I want to tag you all) and then I have to find your info and remember to tag you in the tweet. But let’s go!

  1. Joanne over at Winging Mama-Hood
  2. Erika over at Mz Imperfect
  3. Laura over at Merkitty
  4. Sara over on Insta – I guess you’ll have to impressive the answers but I am psyched to see how you do it. SingleSara7
  5. Gareth over on 16BitDad
  6. Anne on Forever The Wanderer
  7. Holly over on Honestly Holly
  8. Katy & her travel tips on Katy’s Travel Hints and Tips
  9. Shannon over at Shannon Diana
  10. The Average Bloke (For some reason I don’t know your name, but none the less awesome blog) over on Average Bloke Blogger

Peace guys!

Me Too. The Blame Game.

Comments 4 Standard

This post is going to be a bit of a zinger. I am fully prepared to lose followers, get some hate and even get slated for this. But it’s come up time and time again and every time I end up feeling the same way.

Abuse in Hollywood. Actor alleged crimes. Rumours and Stories.

In the wake of yet another ever so talented actor being accused of sexual harassment I find myself finally writing this post.

Morgan Freeman can now join the ranks of Kevin Spacey. Jeremey Piven, Johnny Depp and Dustin Hoffman. Men who have all been accused of sexual misconduct.

Firstly I would like to air my stance on misconduct. Out right. Plain and simple it is WRONG. It happens both ways. Men assault Women. Women assault Men. Its black and white. No means No. If they don’t consent it’s against their will and that is a crime.

But I am also of the same mind-set as “Innocent until proven Guilty in a court of law” – until a jury of my peers and a judge says. Yes Guilty! Or No Innocent! Then I am not interested in the stories.

Sadly that is the horror of social media today. So many people have a voice or an opinion that someone else will read. Form another opinion on the matter and use their voice to share a new story that has changed so much so that the original content get lost or embellished.

Leaving the damage to set in and destroy lives and careers.

I use actors as the example because I am a big film fan. We mention Spacey and we should automatically think about his amazing performance in The Usual Suspects or even House of Cards. But we don’t. We think of the allegations. Morgan Freeman we should think God in Bruce Almighty or Red in Shawshank. Not any more. Hoffman as Totsie or Hook not as the sexual predator people are suggesting.

I hate how these situations ruin careers and the name they spent so long trying to make.

Don’t get me wrong if Spacey or any of these men are convicted by a judge due to overwhelming evidence then fair enough, the proof is there and I will be in agreement that they have done wrong, they have a talent but it has been overshadowed by these crimes. But until then in my eyes they are talented award-winning men. Not crooks.

maxresdefault

Also not to take anything away from the real victims because yes they have gone through horrific ordeals. But in situations like this how can you be absolutely 100% positive that every account, story and allegation is truthful. How can we be that certain. Yes 8 people said it. But does that mean it happened 8 times. Or did it happen 4 times and the other 4 jumped on board. It is one of those things that no one can doubt or question. But says a lot about the person who is (if any) making it up. That is a whole new level of monster.

It is also still a simple case of one person’s word against another’s. Just multiple times. It’s not 8 allegations vs 1 person. Which is the bit I think most people forget. They see the story of Freeman assaulting eight women. But we don’t know that for sure. We don’t know if any are true. Sadly people are greedy and hungry for fame. They want the Kardashian life of luxury and wealth at no cost. What’s an embellishment between friends. He looks the type so lets say he did it. This mentality is also as wrong as the crime itself. Toying and manipulating people’s lives for your own goals is wrong.

To summarise my post I just wish people would be more open-minded and allowing. Remember an allegation is just that. There is no evidence of truth until that allegation is investigated and judged by a court of law. At the moment there is one mention or whisper of something and the mob is out with their torches and pitchforks trying to run someone out-of-town like a 1940’s horror movie.

Universal Frankenstein - angry mob

These actors have families. How would you like it if all you heard was how Mummy abused so and so, and Daddy did this to them. Until its proven it’s just slander.

I know this might be hard to read and if anyone has been affected by this please feel free to contact me or the appropriate help line. I support everyone, I love everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to try to widen people’s perspective, to stay open-minded and stay fair. I know it’s a horrible situation but I just don’t think we can instantly brand someone a sexual predator until it is proven.

I also hope you can understand my point and don’t hate me too much.

Peace 💞

I was tagged in this post by AToughTimeToBeHonest and I for one am grateful for the tag – I love these posts and I think they are amazing ways to learn something about everyone.

And literally a day after being tagged in this, Lana and Ryan from The Cole Camp Fire tagged me too so now I am thanking them and answering more questions set upon me.

Both blogs are amazing and ran by supportive people who has so much passion that they are a credit to the blogging community and their work – go follow, support and share.

The Award strikes again and I was also tagged in LizzumsLivesLife which if you don’t follow you should, she is amazing!

I wont lie I just copied this line from the tagged post because I wouldn’t know where to find the creator – But here we go the creator of the Mystery Blogger Award is Okoto Enigma check out her lifestyle and travel blog here.

Now a chance to shine – three things you might not know about me.

IM

  1. When I was younger, say 7 or 8 I got lost in Matalan, I was too busy running around and darting through the racks that I lost my family. On reflection it was very Blair
Witch. Just manically running in circles.
  2. I am a sucker for fancy dress – I LOVE IT. I don’t go half hearted. It’s all or nothing. Over time I have donned many faces (maybe I should right a post about it) but this is by far one of my favourite costumes.
  3.  And the final thing about me – as much as I find the wildlife and scenery beautiful, I am scared of the Ocean, the depths and what lurks down there. I would much prefer to be stuck in Space than at the bottom of the Ocean. Have you seen some of the critters that live down there?

Now looking at the rules I think there is something missing, or I have made a mistake. But it’s time to continue. . . or make it up as I go along. Going forward I want people to do the three facts and then answer the set questions.

The Questions

From AToughTimeToBeHonest

  1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years. – Family Man. Married with a Child in a nice house with a dog – I can’t wait for the dog!
  2. Favourite drink, alcoholic or not? – Can’t beat a lovely Cuppa Tea or a Gin 😉
  3. Should Pluto be recognised as a planet? – Probably not, he’s a dog! Real answer, Yes I do. My GF’s sister was learning the planets the other week and it occurred to me they have it easier now as when I was learning their was one more. Bring it back!
  4. Android or Apple? – Android for Phone, Apple for Computer.
  5. Post the funniest photo you can of yourself which reminds you of a time you had fun. – Get a load of this! (Pete, Me, Mole & Tom) This was taken at Mole’s Stag do that his now Step Son and my best friend Tom organised. It was such a messy night but so many good memories.263472_195546863830830_3545073_n

The Questions

From The Cole Camp Fire

  1. Do you have pets? Tell me about your pets. – We have a cat at our house which is my GF’s sister but when she moved out she couldn’t take the cat. I am not a fan of the cat! The Cat is the bane of my home life. I can’t wait to move into a house and get a dog. I don’t like Cat’s think they are superior and think they deserve everything – where a dog is loyal and respectful.
  2. If you’re the star of a reality show, what would it be about? – I would say it would be about my life – maybe a video form of my blog. Showcasing me growing up dealing with adult life, planning the next steps and becoming a success.
  3. What is the book you are currently reading? – I am not a big reader, which I will admit I don’t like and wish I could read more. Currently I am reading David Jason’s Only Fools and Stories.
  4. Share with me something we don’t know about you? – Oh golly I am constantly being asked this now days I don’t know what you do and don’t know. Ok I once broke my arm playing basketball, clean snap and had to don a sexy orange cast while it healed.
  5. Michael Jordan or Lebron James? – Being a brit I am not big on Basketball and so would have to pick Michael Jordan on his merit for the Space Jam Movie.

The Questions

From LizzumsLivesLife

  1. Have you ever broken a bone? – Yes, my arm while playing Basketball in High School
  2. When was the last time you went on a stay-cation/overnight trip? – Well I just got back off a real holiday so . . . but last overnight trip was probably visiting my dad a few weeks back – or if that doesn’t count. We went to London last year for a show and weekend away which was cute.
  3. What did you want to grow up to become when you were a child? – A had several jobs on the list when I was young; An Artist, Chef, Fireman.
  4. What is your current music obsession? – George Ezra is my jam at the moment, I am loving his new album and in particular ‘Paradise’
  5. Do you generally prefer the book or it’s movie adaption? – As a film geek I much prefer the films, but then I will go back and read the book. The occasions I have thought. Book wins in recent years is Jo Nesbo’s – The Snowman. I couldn’t put the book down and then the film came out I was so excited . . . only to be let down but a pile of steamy rubbish.

Nominations!

This is a bit I don’t like about these, because one I have to pick people and I want to tag you all and I also need to remember who I am tagging so I can tweet it out. But here we go.

  1. Megs – Blog: Respirare – Twitter: @RespirareXO

Now it is my turn to ask the questions . . . are you all ready? Good Luck!

The Questions.

  1. If you could introduce a new law into the world what would it be?
  2. If you could have any job in the world what would you do?
  3. What is your favourite mythical creature or monster?
  4. With no warning the world turns into a Wasteland and the three items in front of you will help you survive – what are they and how do you fancy your chances?
  5. What do you fear most?

Let me take this chance to thank you all so much, for your constant support and for reading and even enjoying my ramblings on here and on Twitter – you all make this so worth it, so welcoming and so so supportive. It’s one of the best communities I have ever known let along been a part of.

A New Blogging Series – The Gadget Guide!

Leave a comment Standard

Gadgets

This is a little introductory post about a new series I am putting together called “The Gadget Guide”.

Where I’ll take recommendations, or find some quirky gadgets that I can review and make a guide about. Tackling manly gifts that can work as gift guides and ideas for boyfriends, sons and dad gifts. But also I’m also looking at house hold gadgets – Like that frying pan that cooks every part of a Full English in one go. How cool is that!

Rest assure though boys, I will take the plunge and review things that can be aimed to the opposite sex, so you can have a helping hand when searching for gifts for your lady friends, Mothers, Sisters and Lovers

Basically I will be taking on everything and anything,

The end goal is to treat myself to a Google Home device to review and sing its praises – because let’s be honest that little thing is awesome and I CAN’T WAIT to get one.

Partly the reason for this series is. . . because I am a guy and I love a good gadget. But also because I can sense you all need my help when it comes to gift giving which is something I nail. Christmas, pfft easy. Birthdays KA-POW. Baby Showers – done and done. So now it’s time to share my knowledge with you all.

So that’s me – short and sweet just to keep you in the loop. But know I need to work out what the first review is going to be. I have had a little look on Amazon to see what I could work with. Any suggestions or if there is something you want to see reviewed by a somewhat trusting, charming and funny guy (that’s me) let me know. I love a challenge and let’s be honest this is going to be a hoot.

Peace and Love my beautiful followers.

P.S The above image “Gadgets” is not my art work. I am grateful for it’s design.

Step 1. A big thank you to Michael David for nominating me in this rather funky cool award. You sir are a classic gent! Guys check him out on his page . . . HERE

Step 2. BRING ON THE QUESTIONS:

Michael David’s Questions & Answers.
1. What do you consider to be your biggest strength? My biggest strength would be my ability to make the most or best of a bad situation. Turn people around and focus on the good.
2. If you could pick up and master any skill in just one day, what skill would it be? (Playing an instrument, speaking a language? Etc) Oh this one is easy – Parkour / Free Running. I would love to be able to do some Assassins Creed, James Bond style moves.
3. What is the best place you have visited as a tourist and why? Houston Texas – I went about 18 months ago to visit family out there and it was such an amazing trip. One of the first times I had travelled fully alone too – even though that didn’t bother me it made the trip more exciting.
IMG_20180315_153049_455.jpg
4. What are your three favourite films?
Are you kidding me . . . ermm . . . Die Hard, Pulp Fiction & The Avengers – that is a hard question for me.
5. List 3 fun things you would like to do before you die. I actually currently have a list of 30 before 30 – but if I don’t finish them they will end up on the bucket list. I would like to see the Northern Lights, Learn to play golf and start my own company.
6. If you could go back in time to any point in history, and stay there for 24 hours, just observing, where would you go and why? 1920’s New York City – the era of Gangsters, Speakeasy and Booze Running. I’d love to experience and see that world.

8. What is your most prized material possession? Screen Shot 2018-03-15 at 17.07.02A little leprechaun egg cup (that I don’t use as an egg cup but more an ornament) – it was my Nan’s and it’s something so little but it means so much to me.
9. What are your main goals (not blog related) for 2018? Buying a House is a big one, though unsure how realistic that is now. Tick a couple more things of my 30 before 30 list and get fit.
10. Who is the most famous person you have met face to face? Briefly describe the encounter. Jason Donovan – Briefly describe isn’t a pun I swear. But I was in my boxers – a few of us were getting changed and he walked in. (Swear Down)
11. What is your favourite alcoholic beverage? Depending on my mood or occasion – I love a nice GnT but saying that an ice-cold beer is always a winner after a long day.

Look who’s back! I have been tagged again – this time by Nathan over at DadsTechHub and on Twitter at: HERE
You should check out that blog, it’s brilliant and inspirational stuff. But now for what you came to see – the Questions.
Mk2.
  1. Why did you start blogging? I started blogging because I wanted to start a Parenting Dad Blog in the future, but then decided to start a lifestyle adulthood blog to build a platform ready for when it becomes a Parenting Blog.
  2. What is the best blogging tip you would give new to blogging? Be yourself, Wow that sounded cliched but it’s true, don’t mould yourself or say / do things you think people want to see. Do or write about what you want. Be yourself. People will respect it more – don’t worry about being too close to the edge or controversial.
  3. If you could which element of blogging would you dedicate more time to? I would have to say time management – which is a kicker, I would dedicate more time to time. I just struggling to keep things consistent and regular.
  4. What is the most random fact you know? Not sure if this is a random fact or a random fact about me – so have both. Random: You are more likely to get hurt on the way to an Airport than on the flight itself. About Me: I am allergic to Oranges.

  6. What was the first Cassette tape/CD/MP3 that you ever purchased? Wow god knows! Erm The Grease Soundtrack on CD

  8. If you were a mad scientist, what experiment would you run, if money wasn’t an issue? Human Experiments with Teleportation

  10. If you could only have 1 piece of technology, what would it be? Real or Not? Because an Iron Man Suit is a must have right? If it’s a bit more realistic I would say a Google Home and all the kit to have a fully automatic house.
